I bought a pack of Verbatim DVD-R 4.7 Gig cd's. I used some of them, and then stopped using them for a while. Then I tried copy a few files on to one them, but it could not copy. I looked at the properties of and noticed that it had 0 free space and 0 used space and that the file system RAW. Can anyone advise me on how to fix this? Thanks
Sorry, you cannot Format a DVD-R disc....a DVDRW, yes, no problems. It looks like your DVD burner might have stopped recognizing -R for some reason, especially if you used them before...maybe the DVD burner is going south. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
It is quite normal for blank DVD-R's (or CD-R's) to show 0 free space and 0 used space. To double check this I just tried one in my machine, which is working quite normally.
xp supports cdr and cdrw but not dvd. You require third party software [like Nero] to burn dvd
Do they show raw on other computers? If so I suspect they went bad. Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
Yeah, they show RAW on other computers as well. Thanks.
If you haven't got a DVD burner program you might wish to consider this freebie which is very good: How to know you are getting old 1:
