First read the manual. What format does your dvd player plays? What format are your video files?

You put the videos on a usb what? External hard drive, jump drive? To view a dvd movie on a dvd player, you have to burn it to a dvd. Some dvd players have a usb port, but I think it's for playing music.

What type of video files? A standard DVD player, even one with a USB port, can't play AVI, MP4, MKV, etc., but it should be able to handle MP3s or JPEGs from a USB device. Is your DVD Player DivX certified?
