Solved how do I get computer out of dos mode

Specs: Windows, Intel Pentium 4
How do get my computer configured to. ... back to last known configuration ?

Looks like the OP changed her question after the replies.

Restart your computer, pressing F8 continuously until you see the Boot Menu. Scroll down to Last Known Configuration and press Enter.

We need to know exactly what you are seeing on your screen (where you are) when it is started up - or what is on it now if it has not been shut down.

As Derek said, please explain exactly what's on your screen. There is no DOS mode in Windows XP.

If it's actually stuck in dos/command prompt type exit and enter. That gets you back to the windows desktop.

To answer your question, tapping F8 before windows starts loading brings up the boot menu where you can find 'last known good configuration'.

But as already mentioned, you probably have something else going on with it.
