There's a registry fix here if windows has forgotten about it:

Or it's possible the entire help center was deleted. Here's some info on reinstalling it:

Hello DAVEINCAPS,

Thanks for your quick answer! Im trrying this answer first you gave:

There's a registry fix here if windows has forgotten about it:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us..

This in turn led to an answer by Sheldon Cooper on December 20, 2011:

Should be able to fix by:

Start Regedit, by going Start > Run and typing "regedit" without quotes
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\HELPCTR.EXE
If the key doesn't exist, right click and create the key : "HELPCTR.EXE" (sans quotes)
Ensure the value is C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe or create this value
Reboot the machine and try againBe sure to backup your registry before modifying it.

I have created the key HELPCTR.EXE as it was missing in the App Paths. Now the question I have: is the Value I need to create for this Key a String Value, a Binary Value, a DWORD Value, a Multi-String Value or an Expandable String Value? Once I have that information I am confident I can create it. Any help/assistance is greatly appreciated. Ditzy45 iskra2@excite.com

On my XP machine when I highlight HELPCTR.EXE in regedit the right panel shows Default under 'name', REG_SZ under 'type' and C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe under 'data'.

But I guess you got that far.

To change the value under any of those just right click on whatever (if anything) is showing to get the submenu and choose the correct value type. But I didn't know what that was either so I spent a while googling it.. The 'reg_sz' under 'type' means it's wants a string value. So click on 'string value' from the submenu under whatever shows for the 'data' entry and enter the C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe

Be sure to enter it EXACTLY as specified.

Here's some additional info that may or may not be helpful:

Hi DAVEINCAPS,
Thanks for all the extra help you have given me...you are awesome!!

Well I got what you meant and did exactly that by right-clicking under Data then typed
C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe as a String Value then rebooted me puter. It sure tried to come up but just couldnt quite get there. My brain is sooo fuzzy with all this since yesterday and today.

I know I can access the Restore feature by doing this:Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, click System Tools, click System Restore shortcut
Then click on Create a Restore Point click Next then under Restore Point Description enter name you will remember( it will date it for you)
To be safe type name and date description into Notepad so you can have help remembering it which is helpful for me LOL. Maybe you already know this and if so dont mean to be redundant.
geeez of course its redundant your Help and Restore works! Duh
Then folow these steps to go back and restore registry if you need to from this Restore Point.

Also here's a neat program (small footprint) if you need to backup your registry. I tried it and it really does great job very easy to use and easy to restore the Registry backup from there too. Sayonara for now and thanks a bunch again!! Ditzy45

If you mean the computer won't boot after the registry changes, yeah, you need to restore to an earlier date and maybe try again. If you mean the health center still won't come up then it's probably been uninstalled and you'd need to install it again.
