Specs: Windows XP
Trying to defrag. my computer, won't let me do it, says not enough disk space, how do I free up disk space

Run disk cleanup or download and run Ccleaner slim from the link below. You need at least 15% free space to run defrag.

You could also remove some older system restore points. If you burn TV shows or movies, those files usually stay on the hard drive until they are removed.

Any programs you no longer use? Take a look in Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs.

Restore points will eventually come back. See if the reserved space for these is too large. There is not usually any need to have more than a months restore points and you can probably manage with less. Reducing this size gradually by experiment will remove older restore points - they can't be deleted individually by normally provided methods.

lammie, Windows has certain files that MUST be present in order for it to work. Individual proggies may require others.
Find a list of 'musts' @:
Anything else is fair game for deletion.
