How come my computer won't boot from a cd-rw?

March 11, 2011 at 09:24:14
Specs: Windows XP
I forgot my password for my adminstrator account, so i downloaded a password recovery tool which i burned to a cd-rw. Then i restarted my computer with the disk inside and i got this error message:

Boot from CD :

ISOLINUX 3.11 2005-09-02 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin
isolinux : Disk error 80, AX = 4210, drive 9F

Boot failed : press a key to retry...

If anyone could tell me what the problem is or how to fix it, that would be great. Thanks.

Try burning again. Or use a different CD.

In fact, i have tried OPHCRACK LIVECD, and i got a very similar error message, but now i am using PC LOGIN NOW, and i am still getting an error message. As for the burning - i used a very accurate program to burn the ISO image to the cd. The cd i am using is a cd-rw, but i think it's only a problem with my computer. This is really frustrating, i need to get on to my computer!!!

I've found CD-RW don't always work on other machines. Best to burn ISO to a CD-R then finalize.

Please come back and let us know how you got on.

Thanks! I had a hunch that it was something to do with the type of cd. That's why i mentioned that it's a cd-rw. Yeah, i am going to give it a try with a different type.
