How can I use my Packard Bell Easynote XS again?

June 2, 2020 at 18:10:44
Specs: Windows XP
I have an old Packard Bell Easy Note XS 7 inch netbook. It's always worked well although I just use it occasionally. It's not loading Windows XP anymore, just goes to the PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility instead. Although I've tried all the options there's no scope to reboot it or set it up using F2 as I used to be able to do. Should I give up as Windows XP is out of date and it may simply have stopped working?

Thanks,
HG

That model netbook should have a traditional hard drive. If so, it may have failed. Can you see the drive listed in setup?

No, it should work fine.

Check your cmos battery.

Whether an OS is out of date or not doesn't determine its' functionality. DOS 1.1 is over 35 years old, but still works (not that anyone would use it for anything useful today)....
