How can I enable standby in Windows XP

Specs: Windows XP
can anyone tell me a way to enable standby on windows xp becasue when I click "turn off computer" the standby option is gray and unclickable. I have windows xp professional

thanks but on the first link I don't have the "Parameters" under "ACPI" and the second link applies to a different version of windows

I haven't used XP for a while now, isn't there a sleep mode and hibernation mode?

theres just standby and hibernate, but I don't have the driver for either I think from searching on google
