Hide LAN icon in the Taskbar

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP MCE SP3, 1.794 GHz / 1982 MB
Can anyone tell me how I can disable the RJ45 icon on the taskbar?

I tried using the Control Panel>Network Connections>LAN>Properties setting as seen at the pasted link, but it won't go away

Any help or keywords to use would be helpful.

Try, Control Panel>Network Connections.

Right click the connection with the red cross. Select disable.

Or,

Device Manager & disable the network card.
