hi

I have 40 GB IDE harddrive and I want to upgrade it to 500 GB sata Hard drive.But In old hard drive i am running ODBC and other Accounting Software and I want to transfer that all software and Data, But its seems Not possible for me to transfer that ODBC and other accounting software.how to transfer all data including software so that it can run in New Hard drive.

You can't normally transfer software from one drive to another. You must reinstall the software and that requires the install media. You can transfer data. You could transfer a clone of the original drive.

What model motherboard do you have and is it 48bitLBA compliant? Does it have inbuilt SATA ports or will you be attempting to use adapters or a PCI plug-in SATA controller card? You may also encounter driver difficulties if you clone an IDE drive operating system onto a SATA disk.
My suggestion is if the 40gb drive is working and all you need is extra space then simply install the SATA disk and use it for extra storage. Leave your current operating system and programs where they are.
