Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 664 MHz / 382 MB
hey when i try to install anything on my computer, the folder it creates in the start menu is (Empty)
and also it cant create desktop or quicklaunch icons
sometimes it says
Cocreateinstance failed; code...
anyone know?
ive tried cleaning my registry
im tried windwos xp repair. not working
cant do sytem restore cause i just reformatted my comp 2 days ago and have no restore points.
can anyone help me?
i have too much data to do another reformat :(

How did you manage that, without loosing the data and why can't do the same thing again?

The first step you have to do after reformatting and installing windows is, you have to update your windows with all available patches.

When this is done, you can start to install you software. And you shouldn't get any problem on that.

What to you mean that you don't have any restore points? One is created automatically when xp is started the first time after windows is install. You must have disabled system restore at some point that any restore point that was there is now gone.
