help with partitioned drive reformatting

Specs: Windows XP
goon squad partitioned hard drive with a 5gb recovery, then they allocated it drive letter d then amking it the primary drive. I am having a very hard time to reformat this drive. I keep getting a balloon telling me i am out of drive space because drive is full but can't clean it or reformat or delete because it is primary drive

Are you trying to format the system partitioin or the recovery partition? Windows won't let you format the drive it's on. You should be able to boot with the XP cd to delete either. Or boot from the recovery partiton to delete and recreate the system partition.

Why would you want to remove the System Recovery Partition, it is there fore a reason...
