if the screen stopped working after the update, then answer this question first: did you notice any flickering or other screen problems before this happened? if so, then you just need to get the screen replaced. if not, the update may have accidentally shut down or deleted the display function for the default screen built into the laptop, which is usually most unlikely. if you answered no, try formatting your hard drive COMPLETELY (yes, even the running program!) then re-install the running program, and if the screen still doesn't work, then just replace the screen. if the screen STILL does not work, then sorry buddy, i can't help ya, unless you threw the windows update install disk at the screen.

Highly unlikely for an update to cause your monitor to fail. Have you tried another monitor on your system? Your monitor may have given up the ghost. Don't simply format and re-install without trying the obvious.

Have you tried another monitor as Even suggested? Once the monitor is connected to the laptop don’t forget to hold down the Fn key and press F7 key to toggle between the two screens.
Fn + F7 is for Lenovo laptops; your combination could be different if it is not a Lenovo.
