I am very new to computers and the problems
how do I remove my corrupt windows xp and reinstall I have a disc. Its a dell about 7-8 yrs old,computer comes on but will not boot.

Put the recovery CD into the CD drive and restart the computer. The computer should boot from the CD and the recovery process should start. You may have to click on buttons to allow it to continue.

The recovery process will overwrite all the existing data on the C: drive.

Please describe the problem you are experiencing more detailed.

If clean install is what you want, then you should make sure all important data on the OS partition is properly backed up.

From the other side, you can go with the Repair option which leaves your data intact, but won't clean any junk software (and similar) that may be present on your PC.

How to perform Win XP repair installation

Note: You may need to set the DVD drive as first boot device so as to boot from the CD.
