Specs: Windows XP, 2 gb ddr2
OK, Here's what i like todo. Using a External Harddrive, Making it a cool os + a repair drive with some extry's like fix mbr fdisk all that stuff
The os would be determin by Boot Order option. Thinking this would be not only a 10-15 gig repair disk with a os on it along with virus software ect, but a 60 gig personal information or programs EXE,zip whatever.
I know it can be done but how?
or can it be done ! Iam sure this would be needed to alot of people if done right.
Can we all pull in and make it happen like a step by step thing or is it not the right place
for a project of this kind ? the reson i ask here
is becuse i've trusted computing.net people for over 5-6 years

Sure it can be done but why? You accomplish nothing that hasn't already been done.

You can't move the drive to another system due to the hal.

Easier to have recovery tools on cd which you can boot in any system. Might want to google things like Knoppix, BartsPE, booting cdrom for repair, etc.

Becuse o f scrches and what not, Iam not talking about a big
old 50lb external, just a light weght laptop that runs on usb only, self power. small enough to fit in shirt pocket. I have a view thay are really nice. After the boot up, you would get a option in this option would be Barts pe along with other repair programs.

systems would have to support usb booting. Older systems don't have that feature. Otherwise you are just making a bartpe on a usb drive.

Pretty easy to carry around a bootable cd :-)except for putting it in your pocket.
