Specs: Windows XP
For the past few months, my computer has been doing a hard shut down every few days between 10:36 and 10:40 am. Nothing in the event log, and no scheduled tasks at that time.

Something weird happened today. After two days of not crashing, it did a hard shutdown on schedule today. This time, as soon as it crashed, I heard a continuous tone, and I couldn't power up again. Turned out to be my UPS was making the sound, and it's light was flashing red. I assume it needs a new battery. I find it a really strange coincidence the the UPS bit the dust at the same time the pc has "normally" been crashing.

To wrap this up. I've had no problems in a week, since not using the UPS.
It's going to need a new battery.
Case closed :-)
