Solved gpedit in windows folder but wont open

Specs: Windows XP pro
Windows Xp professional w/ service pack 3: the file gpedit exists in windows sys 32 folder but when i try to run it, it says that windows cannot find it it make sure you typed the name correctly......Also mmc seems like its missing some folders?

Type it as gpedit.msc in the start/run box. Won't work with just gpedit.

Thank you very much it opened up fine I just wonder if it could possibly be configured wrong because in my event viewer there is 0 events for "security" logs. "Application" and "system" events are normal. Also listed are" internet explorer", "microsoft-windows forwarding/ operational", and "windows powershell" which also dont have logging, should those even be there? Once again i really appreciate your quick and accurate response it was helpful.

You won't find any entries in the Security log unless auditing is enabled and it isn't by default. The other items were created by the associated system when they were installed. It is not unusual to see no entries for them.
