Google Earth Error message

Can anyone help me please.

A long time ago I downloaded Google Earth on my laptop, it downloaded and installed successfully and I have been able to use it before.

But now I opened up Google Earth and the following message appeared
"Google Earth could not contact the authentication server to activate your session. The application will continue to operate but will only display data available locally (in cache)
For more information about how to resolve the problem, would you like to run a diagnostic test? This test attempts to detect settings on your computer that might prevent Google Earth from functioning properly"

I click yes and the following message appears "the results of the diagnostic test are being displayed in the browser. Please start Google Earth again after following the recommended steps"

Nothing appears in my browser, I have tried closing it down and have even tried reinstalling it but it has made no difference the same message appears.

I am unable to search for anything in Google Earth and the messages just keep appearing.

Can anyone offer an advice for this please.

Many thanks,

Google may have a newer version available. Remove the current version through Add/remove programs and then download and install the current version.
