Getting loss of free space on acessing folder

Specs: Windows XP professional
In my E: Drive the free space getting reduce on accessing its folders.
I'v scanned using Eset and A-squared it gain only few Mb and show system clean.But the problem persist.
Please help me to get rid of this..

Elaborate, what exactly happens? Do you mean that when you open and close a folder, disk space disappears?

The free space decreasing by opening and closing the folders but for some times it is not decreasing. I'v noticed the free space decreases by opening and closing the folder containing images.. Other virus like symptoms are to open any application it takes so much time .Some times i have to make two double clicks to open the desktop applications .Kindly help me ...

Additional Information:
I'v turned off the Restore points and also the cache Thumbs..
These are the files get modified when i access my folders.I'v used the software WinDirStat and 7-Zip FIle Manager.I'v got these files get modified without any internet connection.
I'v found "rules.ini" in temp folder of Local Settings.
