Was your PC using an on-board video adapter before you fitted the GeForce card?

If yes, you may need to disable the on-board video adapter in the BIOS settings. If you did not do that, you will be getting a device conflict so neither of them will work.

Try taking out the video card and reseating it again ( I read on another posting that this can be an issue that the card appears to be in but is not completely seated) , also does the video card have an extra power plug requirement? If so then it must be properly powered up. Also, does your power supply have enough wattage for your card/system combination (check their website or box for recommended minimum requirements.
Finally, you might have a bad card.
