You're installing it from cd/dvd? Usually that would mean a problem with the disk or drive. Does the disk look damaged or have you had a problem with the drive using other disks? Bad ram is another possibility.

Thank you for replying. I am running the recovery from the partition. I made recovery discs but I have read of people having the same issue with purchased discs. There has to be a way to access a menu allowing one to move past or choose not to download certain programs. Any ideas? Thanks again

Oh so this happened when you were restoring the entire system and it hung up when it got to the office files? Sometimes that means it's trying to write to a bad spot on the hard drive.

It's going to be hard to get around it if the recovery process is stopping there and not giving an option to skip the files and continue on. When you started the recovery process did the menu give any options about skipping files associated with bad sectors?

You might try downloading a drive fitness test from the drive manufacturer. It should be able to mark bad sectors, if that's the problem, so that the restore process won't try to write to them.

This describes the acer recovery from outside of windows:

I didn't see anything there about being able to skip files during recovery. The only other option they give there is to use recovery disks. You might check the support site for your model and see what's available.
