Frequent Internet Crashes

September 13, 2009 at 21:36:20
Specs: Windows XP

My internet frequently crashes, particularly when loading videos or downloading files. I have to reset the Network Connections on average about five to six times within a two hour period.

A friend of mine who's more computer savvy than I seems to think this is caused by an instability in the Windows XP 64-bit intaller I used (my computer came with no disk).

I'm wondering if the solution is to borrow his Installation disk to ensure I have a genuine Operating System, or if there is a simpler method to fix my problem.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What internet browser are you using?

When you say "My internet...." do you mean your BROWSER crashes, or your actual internet CONNECTION stops?

My ability to connect slows down until I lose access to the internet. It's not a browser issue, it's a network connections issue that I think is linked to the operating system, which I got from a Torrent.

Everything else works fine, but I have to open network connections and disable/enable my Local Area Connection frequently.
