formatting a HP PC without admin access

Specs: Windows XP
its been a few years since I last used my desktop pc (HP) and I have forgotten my admin password. All I want to do is restore it to factory settings so I can install windows 7 which I have the disk for but I do not have any recovery/boot disks. The computor currently runs on XP. Can anyone help?

You don't need admin access (at least not in Windows) if you're going to completely wipe out the hard-drive, and assuming you have a full version of Win7. You just insert the CD/DVD and allow it to blow away the partition and start from scratch. A bigger question may be if your machine can handle Win7. You state that "its been a few years since I last used my desktop pc" which would suggest that it may be below the "minimum" specs for Win7 (and remember, these are Microsoft's minimums, which are seldom enough to have much "fun"):
