"computer files system CAB archives error 42127"

When do you get the message in what program, or what were you examining when you saw that ?

Apparently when you get that error, the location on the hard drive of where the supposedly corrupted file is shown.

Quote the rest of the message.

FILE C:\bundle\works\REDIST\IE6\tempfile.CAB|>msoe.chm ERROR 42127{CAB archive...

FILE Prograni_Old\iTunesSetup.exe|>iTunes.msi Error 42127 {CAB archive is corrupted.} File D:\Prograni.exe Error 42127 {CAB archive is corrupted.}

Reported in Avast anti-malware log:

File C:\System Volume Information\_restore{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP1762\A0249195.exe\i386\ieencode.dl_ Error 42127 {CAB archive is corrupted.}

( You can ignore it if it's in C:\System Volume Information\_restore......
The same goes for any malware found there.
That's in a System Restore previous restore point. Microsoft experts say it can't cause you any grief unless you load the restore point that it's in by deliberately loading it yourself.)

File D:\i386\Apps\App31030\mshdqfe\win2k3\ara\kb835221.exe\commonfiles\hdaudbus.sys Error 42127 {CAB archive is corrupted.}

Hi All,

I have run Sophos SAV32CLI in safe mode with command prompt the result was no viruses found but it reported there were 23 errors. When I used Avast Professional, it gave me this results:

C:\USERS\Dave\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary internet files\Low\Content.IE5\07MUYUT\ie8-Setup-full[1].exe|>IE-REDIST.EXE ERROR 42127 {CAB ARCHIVE IS CORRUPTED.

Should I find this and delete it or should I reinsert my Vista DVD and do a repair or can anyone suggest another fix? I don't want to reinstall my PC to factory settings but I have heard uninstalling IE is a real pain and can cause loads of problems. Microsoft annoy me for making their IE compulsory when everyone knows it is rubbish, prone to cock-ups and inferior to Chrome and Firefox! Please can anyone advise me on my next step?

Best regards

Paul K

When I searched for info about this error I found you probably only get the when you use Avast!.

The golden rule is, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it".
If you don't know what something means, you probably don't need to do anything if you have no problems with your system that you can definately pin on a specific file.

In this case, you could delete the mentioned file at C:\USERS\Dave\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary internet files\Low\Content.IE5\07MUYUT\ie8-Setup-full[1].exe

- delete ie8-Setup-full[1].exe -

or you could go to Control Panel - Internet Options
and delete temporary files, which may do the same thing

This may indicate you get the message depending on settings in Avast! :

(An Avast) CAB archive is corrupted
