Specs: Windows XP SP3, 4 gb ddr2
Ok so i wanted to format my HD and start over with my windows XP installed fresh although i wanted ot backup all documents and settings and put them back.
So i read that the files & settings transfer wizard is supposed to work so i went through that and backed up all my data on my second HD (500GB) and that went fine.
Now i re-insall windows xp (sp3 installed aswell) and i go to the files and settings transfer wizard, select new computer and then select the folder on the spare HD where i chose to back the files up and select it then hit next and it starts organizing the files and doing it's thing, then it finnishes and say's it was succesful and to log off then log back on to see changes, so i did that but when i logged back on i can't see any changes at all, all the files are still in the same place on the old HD and the new files arnt on the c: drive.

Anyone know why it say's it's succesful and then theres no change? Also during the wizard i checked the HD space on my c: drive )whcih is also 500GB) and it was going down, went from 460GB free to like 100GB free and then after the i log back on 460GB free space again.

For an honest opinion, the File and Settings Transfer Wizard rarely ever seems to work. I have had success with it occasionally, but it is always better to just manually copy over files you need. Yes, you will lose some certain settings, but I wouldn't give yourself a headache trying to make it work.

Yeah thnx i agree, it's stupid and dud, it only successfully finished restoring my setting on the 4th try, and then it turned out that it didn't even work. Luckily i manually backed up aswell :D
