Specs: Windows XP
i tried to send an email with a file attachement that is apparently too large because it is stuck in my outbox. I cannot send or receive any other emails. every time i log onto outlook express it tries to "send" and gets stuck there. how can i delete this file?

Easier thing to try first - disconnect your computer from the internet - either unplug the cable or turn off your modem/router. When you get the error message that OE cannot connect, dismiss it, or if you get the option choose 'work offline', and then try & delete the message from the outbox again.

carolr, sorry 'bout that. The link does appear to be dead. I maintain a rather large library of links to various things and sadly not all stay current. Shame, it might've been really useful. Maybe Google the problem if johnr's suggestion doesn't do the trick?

i actually did try disconnecting the internet. when i tried clicking on that message in the inbox the mouse gets hung up with the hourglass thing.

From Outlook, try creating a new folder called Test (or whatever). See if you can then drag the file into it from the Outbox, using the left mouse button. If this works it is fairly easy to get shot of the Test folder and it least it will get your email working.
