Hi all

For some reason when I enter sleep mode, ALL the fans (case fan, power supply fan, north bridge fan, etc.) in my computer (even the lights) are still on.

I want all the fans to power off when I enter sleep can I accomplish this??

Windows XP Pro 32-Bit SP3
P4 3.0ghz, 2GB Ram
420W Power Supply
Logitech USB Mouse
Wireless Microsoft USB Keyboard

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Do not use Sleep mode in a desktop system. Those powersaving features are designed for laptops and often result in problems when used in desktops.

Disable hibernation in the power options and when not in use, turn the system off.

I use sleep mode just fine in my win7 pc.
I use standby on my xp pc just fine.
All fans go off. I hit the enter key and everything wakes up. I don't shutdown unless I need to.

I would suggest looking at your bios power settings as a start. You may need a firmware update. Id your mainboard and do some web searchs to see if others with your model has similiar problems.

Richard59: I have never heard of that before. I put my other computers (PC DESKTOPS) to sleep, and absolutely nothing ever goes wrong. I only turn it off when I really need to, which isnt very often. Just this one doesnt want to turn off the fans and I dont know why.

I checked around google and found nothing about my motherboard (Abit IS7-E) and anyone who has the same problem. Went through BIOS, power management tab, but didn't find options for fans/sleep management.

Other suggestions?

LOL, you can't somehow attract helpers to a post by typing "Nobody?" within it.
If someone thinks they can help they will see the title of this post and respond. It might take a day or two - maybe nobody will have any suggestions, who knows.

Yeah OK LOL, but you'll only attract those who have already responded because their posts get automatically marked.

There is nothing wrong with the sleep mode. You have S1 sleep mode enabled in the bios. Change it to S3 if it allows it(it usually does) and then the fans will shut down since S3 is a deeper sleep mode. IMHO sleep mode is not just for laptops. If you have problems with it, then don't use it. But if you can get it to work properly, then there ate many good reasons for using it with a desktop.
