Specs: Windows XP, 2 GB
Hi,

I installed windows XP few days back on my laptop. It worked well for few days but now I'm facing some kind of error that say "you may be a victim of software counterfeiting, this copy of windows is not genuine".

Most of the software programs are not working. I get this error whenever I start my laptop. I tried some articles form the web but they didn't work at all.

I'm mentioning them below so you guys don't suggest those methods as I have already applied them but didn't got any result.

Kindly suggest me something which work well.

✔ Best Answer
The Product Key you used to install Windows may have been "blacklisted" by Microsoft because it was either not issued by them (ie a fake key) or it's already been used by one or more other people.

Microsoft keeps a database of Product Keys which have already been used but it can take a couple of days for the warning message to appear in Windows.

You must buy a genuine Product Key which has never been used, but that's going to be impossible now because Microsoft stopped issuing XP Product Keys several years ago.

I suggest you buy a more modern Windows version if your system supports it, or buy a new PC with Windows 10 pre-installed.

Windows XP is no longer officially supported - it's too old.

Where did you get the copy of WinXP that you installed? What is the history of the copy and the installation key?

You don't give the full spec for your computer but most likely Win 10 will not run on it or if so it will crawl.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
