Specs: Windows XP
I want to restore my laptop to factory settings before passing it on. f8 does not bring up Advanced Boot Options it brings up Advanced Options Menu and there is no where there to reset factory settings.

Try 'Ctrl' and 'F11' together instead - I think the F8 option is for Vista and Win7.

"I want to restore my laptop to factory settings"

From what I could find, Ctrl+F11 is what you need, but you have to press the keys at the correct time. You also need to have the recovery partition. If you deleted it, you can't do the restore. I assume you never created the recovery disks?

Driver programs are usually scams, you're most likely downloading an infection. Drivers should be downloaded from the Dell website.

You need to hit the Ctrl+F11 right after the Dell BIOS Logo disappears. It's all in the timing.
