Hi all
I have my explorer exe with a constant 47-60'k kb memory usage.
After going through the web and searching I have used process monitor and here below is one of the lines:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Linkage\Bind_ Buffer overflow length:144
Could this be one of the reasons for the high explorer mem usage?
Thanks

That doesn't sound like excessive memory usage to me. (I presume that you mean 47 MB rather than 47 KB.) What makes you suspect that particular key?

sure it is 47mb as I stated 47'k(47 000 KB).
Reason for my suspicion is what came up after installing Process Monitor found here as mentioned above.

I would hardly think that registry value would be related to high memory usage - even if explorer.exe usage is high. Memory usage of processes is highly dynamic and varies widely according to how much memory you have, what processes are doing now, what they were doing previously, and other factors. 47-60 MB seems within a normal range.

Process Explorer is a valuable tool but to use it you must understand what the numbers mean. And understanding that isn't nearly as simple as it may seem.

Mine is currently running fine at 49,292 KB and I don't believe that your figures are particularly high at all. Explorer.exe is a whole lot more than just a file manager.

The confusion about the amount resulted from your highly unusual presentation of this as "k kb". Best to either stick to KB, or convert to MB.

Hi all
I have been going through the web and it seems that the amount of memory I mentioned is not out of the ordinary, so I'll leave that for good.
Thank you all for the replies and time.;-)
