When you say "clean install", do you mean that you removed all partitions, then created a new one on which to install Windows?

If not, that could be a part of your problem. XP seems to have a problem as far as picking up garbage from previous installs, unless the partition is removed and re-created.

I see no mention of anti-virus software in your post. After installing Windows, then the motherboard drivers, you should install your AV software (all before connecting to the internet). Update your virus definitions immediately. If you don't use anti-virus software, then you deserve all the grief you get.

I think your best option is to start anew.

its had liike 3 different partitions if i can remember.2 of them where very small in size, only couple mb, but the main was was my hard drive so thats the one i chose. sumone else said about updating my motherboard and video n sound drivers but i dunno what motherboard and stuff i have. i went to download a program called CPU-Z to tell me all that but guess what, the file was corrupt.

I agree with Sci-Guy. Start all over. Format the partition and reinstall the os.

Don't just format the partition, delete it, then create a new one. That's the only way you can be sure that XP doesn't pick up any corruption from previous installs.

If you still have this problem after properly reinstalling, using a different computer, download Memtest and create a bootable CD or floppy and boot the problem computer to that and run to detect any errors on your memory (RAM). If any arrors, retest with only one stick of memory at a time to find problem one.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

If you still have the manual, it will tell you the steps to access the routers set up screen and make the adjustments. Also know that you can update your router's 'Firmware' (imbedded software) as that will fix any corrupt parts of the router's software. Visit their website for more information on this, and let us know the results.
Also note that your problem could be caused by more than one software firewall running at one time (Windows firewall, plus one from a security software suite).
