Hi , I solved the problem. I noticed that there was a non english character in name of a folder ın path of my chm files ( ..\kitablık\...) .By changing the character ( ı to i ) everything is OK now. Thanks a lot anyway ...

Please post the wording of the error. Just saying you "receive an error" is not very helpful.

Microsoft Compiled HTML Help is a Microsoft proprietary online help format, that consists of a collection of HTML pages and an index. Files delivered in the format are commonly known as CHM files, and the format is often used for software documentation.

ARM Devices the future. Windows have accepted the fact!

Maybe you're missing one Registry entry.

If so, copy and past the lines between the ---SNIP--- and save the file to your Desktop.
The double click on it, to import the Registy changes.

---SNIP---

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001

---SNIP---

Thanks for answer , but the solution above didn't help.
Let me describe the problem in detail :
I have some medical books downloaded from internet as single files in chm format.I can't open them even with right clicking and and choosing "open with" [Microsoft HTML help executable].I decided to copy the files to flash disk to try on another computer ' then when I clicked on files over the flash; it worked !!( on same laptop without removing flash ). I use win xp sp3.
It just says :
"cannot open the file : d:\Nu\...\xxx.chm ."

Ok, so you may try reregistering the following files:

1. Open cmd (command prompt)
2. type the following commands and press enter after each

regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\hhctrl.ocx

regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\itss.dll
