Error message box 'Run DLL' on start up?

August 22, 2011 at 20:32:04
Specs: Windows XP
I recently bought a new PC. I have started to get an error message box popping on as soon as I log in, saying:

'Error in C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\LXCFtime.dll

Missing entry:_Run DLL Entry@16

I have just been closing the box and carrying on - but what does it mean? What do I need to do to get rid of the message box?

Many thanks

LXCFtime.dll is a file for a Lexmark printer.

Apparently the installation of the software for the printer is buggy and produces the error you're getting.

I found the solution for Vista - similar should work for XP (you get a similar error in XP).

He says un-installing the Lexmark software and installing it (the same software) again doesn't fix the problem.

"The problem is with this software's behavior at START UP...."

(In Vista or Windows 7)
"To edit Services right click on Computer, left click Manage and select Services."

(In XP)
Go to
Control Panel - Classic view - Administrative Tools - Services

"Find the Lexmark service in the list, double click and set it to Manual, then Stop service. This tells the computer to only start up the Lexmark software when you need to print, which is exactly as it should be ...."

If that doesn't fix the problem there is another way of fixing it.
