You should only remove a drive and put it in a different system as a last last resort.

Why are you using Partition Magic? I suspect this is the source of your issue.

Can you still boot to xp on c:?

thanks, was waiting for reply despersately!
i can boot the system with c drive
i can also boot system with the windows xp installed in drive e: but not successful, it ends with blue screen and reboot before starting the system up.
after booting with old winxp installed, system gets too too slow response time as well as can't access e: drive giving CRC check error.
i did'nt use partition magic; it was my proposal that what i could use.
i just want to recover my data in drive e:
problem is that i installed winxp in my system 2 times; before was installed in c: then yesterday i installed in e: drive too and this problem happened as it is not allowed to do so but i did for some reason

Just install HDD-2 on the 2ndary channel, doesn't matter if it's master or slave...boot into XP on HDD-1 & transfer whatever files you need from HDD-2 to HDD-1.
