Dual Boot Win7/XP - BSOD startup WinXP only!!

Specs: Windows XP, Core i5-750 2.66 GHz
Hi all,

I just started having a problem with my PC that I can't figure out. I am dual booting Win7 & XP on a SSD each on their own partition. I have a second SATA hard drive that I use for a swapfile and data partition. I am getting a BSOD of death when I boot into WinXP but not Win7. So just for fun I took out the second hard drive and XP boots up just fine. So I figure I have a bad hard drive. So I put a new one in and I get the BSOD again when booting XP. So it isn't the hard drive. Can't be the SATA controller because Win7 will boot up just fine. When the BSOD comes up, it flashes for not even a second so I can't see what the error codes are. Appreciate any suggestions anyone might have. Thanks

Your statement:"Can't be the SATA controller because Win7 will boot up just fine." reaches an un-merited conclusion.

Since XP will boot without the second drive, why not then check what the error was... like in Event Viewer...? I think it will indicate your (above) assumption may not be sound.
