You can't use programs that were intended ONLY for Vista or Windows 7 in XP.

You can't use programs that were intended for XP 64 bit ONLY unless you have XP Pro 64 bit - all other versions of XP are 32 bit (a.k.a. x86), including the XP MCE versions - most people who have XP Pro have the 32 bit version.

You must have SP3 updates installed in XP in order to be able to install and use a lot of Microsoft programs.

XP doesn't support installing higher versions of some programs.

E.g.
You can't install any of Microsoft's DirectX versions higher than 9.x in XP.
When your operating system can't support a higher version of DirectX, for XP, the DirectX 10 and higher features that are only supported by those versions are automatically substituted with a simpler version of the feature.

See the Operating System requirements in the System Requirements or similar for the program.

You didn't need to repeat saying the same things.

READ ALL of response 1, especially ....
"See the Operating System requirements in the System Requirements or similar for the program. " !!

You may NOT be able to use the program at all for XP, or you may need to install SP3 updates for XP in XP.

"xp proffessional,verson 2002 with service pack 2"

ALL versions of XP are Version 2002, with no SP updates, or with SP1, or SP2, or SP3 updates integrated into it.

If your Pro is 64 bit, it will say 64 bit in the same place you got that info
(RIGHT click on My Computer - Properties)

Automatic Update DOES NOT install SP3 updates automatically !
.....

If you need Vista or Windows 7 for the program, there may be a version for XP.
If not, you need to BUY and install Windows 7, but your computer should meet or exceed the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 7 (CPU speed, amount of ram, etc.) , otherwise your computer will run A LOT slower in Windows 7 than it does in XP.
Windows 7 is VERY different from XP.

If you don't "get" all that, tell us the name of the file you downloaded !

What program are you trying to download?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
