Solved difficulty connecting to internet and ms update error

June 25, 2012 at 19:12:26
Specs: Windows XP
Lately I have been reinstalling my os, WinXP pro SP2, thanks to windows restore which completly screwed up the system. After a new install, installed drivers, now have a new OS. When I try to connect to the internet, it takes several attempts to connect. Once connected I was able to download my video drivers and do other searches. But it still takes several attempts to connect to the internet. Other machines on the same router and dsl have no problems. In addition once I am connected to the internet I try to do a ms update, but get an error "0x8024400a" and can not update the system.

Open Notepad.exe, copy and past the following code between the ---SNIP---.
Save the file to the desktop. While this is a batch file, you have to save the file as e.g. updrestore.bat. Do do this, in Notepad, click on File / Save as.

Under Save as type, choose "All files". Then under "File name", type in updrestore.bat

When done, close Notepad and doubleclick the save file on desktop.
After that, run windows update again.

---SNIP---
@echo off
cd\
cls

echo.
echo.
echo Windows Update Restore
echo ================================
echo.
echo This Program will restore all necessary Microsoft Windows
echo Update .dll file registry entries.
echo.
echo Be patient until program has finished!
echo.
echo.

pause
@echo on

regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s
regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 initpki.dll /s

echo.
echo.
echo All necessary .dll files been registered successfully!
echo Try Windows-Update again.
