difficult internet access

System manufacturer / System name
March 12, 2010 at 10:05:07
Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 1.41 GHz / 511 MB
I keep getting "can't find server" when trying to go to a site(either clicking link or put address in address bar).Often up to 6 attempts are required before connection is made. Once connection is made page loading is still very slow (internet connection is fast - 10mbps) . This occurs with both firefox and IE

Your problem can due to slow domain name resolving, you can configure following free DNS servers (provided by OpenDNS) on your computer and test again.

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Hope this helps.

Thanks for advice. Unfortunately the problems with "can't find server" and "the connection was reset whilst the page was loading" problem messages are not reduced by changing to the recommended server. I have noticed that these problems either disappear or are very much less if I use the Chromeplus browser. I have checked for viruses using Avast! and for malware with "malware bytes" and SuperAntiSpyware . Any further advice will be much appreciated. I could post the result of a "Hijack this " if necessary.
Many thanks

Ok..Good to hear that your problem is solved after using other web browser.. I was thinking maybe you can take a look on configuration of IE or Firefox, check to see any misconfiguration..
