I have 4GB of OCZ Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800 MHz memory ( 2 x 2048 MB) with a CAS latency of 5-6-6-18 which is no longer available. I'm upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit and would like to increase the RAM to 8 GB. Can I install two more OCZ Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800 MHz memory ( 2 x 2048 MB) but, with a CAS latency of 5-5-5-18 ?
Would the system be stable with the difference in CAS latency?
The memory timings for the new RAM will drop down to the level of the old RAM. In other words, all RAM will run at 5-6-6-18...you'll never notice the difference. Are all voltages the same?
Thank you jam, yes, all the voltages are the same, the only difference is the CAS Latency.
Actually, the CAS latency (1st digit) is the same...it's the tRCD (2nd digit) and tRP (3rd digit) that are different.
