Specs: Windows 7 starter, Atom D255/1GB
I installed a prolific driver PL2303 ( Win 7 version) for a USB connected GPS to work with Seaclear navigation program on an Acer AOD255 netbook running Win 7. Two problems came about:

1) "Jumping or crazy mouse" of the navigation software where the pointer just goes mad as long as the USB Gps is comnnected. I was told this is as the prolific driver is seen by windows as a serial device and was recommended to disable the ball pointing mouse. With this done it solved the problem temporarily but the problem returned. After uninstalling and re-installing the prolific driver, the 2nd problem appeared.
2) Device Manager no longer listed Ports COM & LPT), so I am unable to see which COM port the GPS is connected to. I need to tell the Seaclear program where it is.

Can anyone help?

Downloading a freh driver from www.prolific.com/tw solved the problem as long as the serial usb device is only plugged in after windows has fully settled. Mysteriously the device manager now again lists ports (COM & LPT).
