Dell XP Reinstallation query (replace HDD)

April 27, 2010 at 01:39:39
Specs: Windows XP home, P4 3.0, 1GB DDR
My Dell Dimension came with one IDE hard drive an XP reinstallation CD.
I'm planning to rpelace the IDE one with SATA hard disk and need to install XP in it.
Since it is a new hard disk, will there be any licensing issues?

No, at worst you may have to go through the automated
telephone activation, but I've never had any problems with just
drive replacement activating automatically.

You might need to install the sata drivers.

You can integrate them with nlite

Easier if you have a floppy drive installed.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If the old drive still works, use the hard drive mfg's software to copy an image from the old drive onto the new drive just after formatting (use disk supplied or burn one from image on website of mfg. of hard drive.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
