dell inspiron 1300 non-system disk error mess

Dell / 1300
April 16, 2010 at 07:22:17
Specs: Windows XP Home
Tried a PC Restore using Dell's website instructions. Now have a black screen with message "Loading PBR for descriptor 3 ... done. Non-system disk, press any key. There's no floppy drive, and no CD in the CD drive. Dell didn't provide a reinstall CD, but tried using an older XP reinstall CD and restarting. That didn't help.

You should have a recovery partition on your drive. To access, you restart and press (I believe) the F8 key and follow instructions.

If F8 doesn't work, try ctrl + F11

It's all in the user-manual.

http://support.dell.com/support/edo...

- under "Restoring your operating system"

and it appears to be F-11 if using the boot up etc. approach. There are two other ways to go about it as well...; so again have a read of the manual?
