Download a harddrive diagnostic tool from the manufacturer and run it. They usually run on a bootable floppy. Each major manufacturer provides their own tools. Just be careful with the tests you decide to run as some will wipe the drive.

If the diagnostic tools report the disk as physically defective there is little else to do. If the drive is physically OK but the data is corrupted then you may have some success with data recovery progs.

OK Richard.
Thank you for your prompt response. The drive is physically OK. I was thinking in a software that could fix the tables so I wouldn´t need to recover the files which is always a mess.

What is the capacity of the second hard drive?

What service pack do you have installed?

Watch the POST screens at start up to verify all your drive are recognised by both the model and the FULL drive capacity. If your drive shows as a 127GB or so you should stop using that drive until you address the issue.

You may be able to fix the drive but you need to follow through with the above checks first.
