create virtual cd xp

Specs: Windows XP
I want to 'keep' a disc on my pc rather than having to insert it each time. I remember being able to do this one time with a program I have(?). Copy my physical disc to a virtual disc on the PC. Hope this is clear.

That would be an "image" of the original CD. There are a few different programs that can create these "images". Many programs use their own formats for these "images", but most should support the .ISO standard format. Some of the others are :- .NRG, .MDS, .UIF, .CCD, and there are more. I try to stick with the standard .ISO format. Some of the programs that can create .ISO images are :- MagicISO, PowerISO, Alcohol120%, etc. You'll probably find that your burning software can make images, but may need to use a non-standard format. Look for a setting to save in .ISO format.

You'll also need to install a virtual CD/DVD drive, in order to mount the image file for use.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Microsoft has a free unsupported one on their site.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
