Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 2.391 GHz / 2046 MB
I am installing a new larger hard drive in the C drive slot. I have tryed a strate hd clone but I end up with 2 partitions on the new (360gb), the old hd is a 160gb. I would like 1 large partition on the new hd.
I need some help making a new XP Pro install cd from the files on the old hard drive. That is the only way I know to get the 1 partition on the new hd is to start from scrach with the XP install cd. The cats got to my XP pro install cd and scrached it up. The cd still partly works. The install gets to just short of asking for the product key. Then I get an error message saying that the computer can't read the cd from that point on. I can copy the files off the cd but I don't know if any or all the files are crupted. Can someone help me please

You can't make a install cd from your hard drive. You can quit trying on that front.

Depending on cloning software most [ghost/acronis] allow you to resize. When you are presented with the distination drive you increase the size to match the entire size of the drive.

Be clear there are two clone operations; partition clone and drive clone. Make sure you are doing the drive clone.

What software are you using to clone with?
