Specs: Windows XP
When I turn the power on my computer the black screen comes up saying that Windows was not properly shut down and then whether I continue as normal or continue in safe mode it shows the Windows logo and then goes back to the black screen. It will not start windows and will continuously try to restart. Any ideas?

At bootup hold down F8 for Safe Mode and select the option to Disable Automatic Restart On System Failure. When the system fails you should be able to read the Bsod error display which you should post here.

Good luck.

It may be a fatal error that is causing the computer to restart. You can easily stop the restart problem by changing your system
features to restrict automatic startup when your computer's having a problem. Here is how:

Use System Failure Settings to Stop Automatic Restarts.

1. Click Start and Open the Control Panel
2. Go to System and Maintenance, Click on System.
3. Select Advanced System Settings and choose Advance tab.
4. Under Startup and Recovery, click on Settings.
5. Under System failure uncheck Automatically restart.
Hope this helps!
