Solved connects to only my wireless

Specs: Windows XP
My Dell Latitude D600 connects to my home network but won't connect to any other. Tried everything I know, had a computer guy try, he couldn't get it to connect to my vacation condo wireless. Got home, it connected right away . How come no connection to the other?

Your home connection is remembered by XP.

However, if your condo requires a WPA, WPA2 or WEP password, you need to enter that in Windows before you'll be able to connect.

People often forgot to tell us whether or not something that doesn't work now has ever worked. Has your vacation condo wireless ever worked on your Dell D600?

Perhaps you have a static IP address assigned to the network card????

It was the first time I had taken this laptop on vacation with me. I had only used it at home. I am not particularly computer savvy and had a devil of a time getting it to connect to my home system. I bought the thing used. Units I had owned in the past were never hard to connect to any wifi system.
I live 20 or more miles from the nearest place where I could try to connect to another system.
