Connected to inernet but not connected.

Specs: Windows XP, 3.20GHZ
I have a computer that had alo of viruses/trojan or what have you.
any who, the computer will connect to the router and get an ip address of 10.1.10.xxx
everything look great but wheen i try to get online it just wont connect.
i have no proxies, no firewalls, DHCP is good, temp files are all clean.
at a loss, running malware bytes then if that doesnt work then im going to run superantispyware

any other suggestions though?

I was looking at other topics and saw that and tried it, still nothing, although Superantispyware did fin about 115 trojans, i removed restarted and still no internet.
but the wierd thing is that it read the ip for the router and everything.

with that many infections, I wouldn't trust it anymore and I would just format and reinstall but, thats just me. You have tried different browsers of course?? could download this:

create a live cd and boot from it. Can you access the internet now?

I figured but i wasn't sure if there was another way.
i would like to figure it out just to know also.
any certain reason i should use Linux?

Okay, so i reinstalled XP, still the same thing. so i went and bought a Ethernet pci adapter. STILL the same thing. Im guessing now that th problem is in the motherboard?
