I have a wifi printer connected to a laptop through a router. I want to connect the printer to my desktop on the router.
And your question is?
When I try to install the printer, it keeps asking me for an address. I cannot find an address. The IP address does not work.
Did you print out a configuration sheet and get the IP address from that? You may need to change your printer to a static IP address and give it an address instead of using DHCP. I've seen DHCP cause problems occasionally.
I had problems getting this set-up. However these are the settings I have and I am using a router. The print works fine wifi from my laptop. Printer Host Name:KodakESP7+0472
IP Address:192.168.1.100
IP address Type: Dynamic
Network Subset: 255.255.255.0
Security: WPA
Are you using the disc that came with the printer to set it up? You might try to install it by mapping a local port. To do this go to Start, Printer & Faxes and click on Add A Printer. Select Local Printer Attached To This Computer, take the checkmark out of Automatically detect the printer. Select the option to Create a New Port, click the dropdown arrow and select Standard TCP/IP Port. Give it the IP address of the printer and when it asks for the drivers point it at the drivers folder on the setup CD.
