Explain this "self build". List the specs. Did you check the CPU temp in the BIOS? Did you test the RAM with memtest86? Are you attempting to boot off a used HDD that already had XP installed on it?

yes i tested the temp on cpu in bios ,i didnt test ram yet ,self build just means not a dell ,its asus M2N32-SLI DELUX,corsair powersuply750w,AMDAthlon64x2 3.0GHz,ceforce9800 PNY,corsair DDR2 rame 2x2gigs,any ways i fiddled for a sec and had it running for about a hour then it went down again now it wont stay on long enough to go in the bios eather im really leaning to PS problems but would like some feed back turn it on it runs a bout 30 sec and shuts way down all the way off

I am having the same issue with a Emachine desktop. I partitioned the drive, ran a chkdsk on it from my other computer and it came out fine so I started the windows xp cd it fully uploaded the drives and files then when it gets to the Windows XP Installing Windows 38 minutes to go it will go to 36 minutes then shut off completely.
